Dinky Jaguar 195

Just overplayed with, springs stiff but all there. I rather fancy doing this like the Inspector Morse Jaguar. Or any votes for keeping this original Grey. But the Morse car was a 1960 2.4 color burgundy and I just happen to have the Corgi 2.4 which may make a better Morse car. Released in 1960 until 1966, in Red, Light Grey, or Light Yellow. So I decided to go with Cherry Red, the base has not been restored yet but to make it easier to do this at a later date the rivets have been replaced with screws. The Morse Car was finished in Jaguar Regency Red which is a dark red but not maroon or burgundy, as it has been described. I chose cherry red as the nearest freely available match. The top had a black vinyl finish and this will have the same if I can find an easy way to do this. But you must agree that this is the best finish for this Jag.

Dinky Jaguar 3.4 (Repair) 195

This Jaguar was badly dented but there were no cracks in the shell. The roof and one side was caved in and there was minor damage to the base and the perspex window shell was cracked. This may have been used as part of a crash scene but has very little value in the initial condition. The model was taken apart carefully so as to minimize any further damage. The body shell was gently tapped with a small hammer and flat punch until the profile was matched as close as possible. The next stage was to strip the paint and roughen the repaired area before adding some metal based epoxy resin to strengthen and to fill any blemishes left after removing the dents with the hammer and punch. After the resin has fully dried, file down to the correct profile and if necessary add more resin. Once a profile has been obtained smooth with 400 grit wet and dry and add a coat of primer. The primer will show any flaws which can then be filled and further re-profiled. On this model a sharp file point was used to re-creat
e the wheel arch seam and door edge. The second stage of repair is using a car body filler to get the final profile. Primed again to show any defects and them three or four top coats. I could not find a suitable cream color so I used ivory. Finished with silver on the chrome bits and a touch of red for the tail lights and black on the number plate. (Then I dropped it and chipped the paint on the front right wing, you can see this in the picture. In Progress....... Updated page
