Dinky Single Deck Bus 29e

This bus had damage to the front wings, both were broken and there was a crack above the right rear wheel arch, plus other scuffs and dents. The repair is featured under restoration tips but the main repair was done using a metal epoxy resin and finished with file and 400 grit wet and dry. The basic paint color was applied and the flashes on the sides were masked before painting. A tip here is never leave the masking tape on longer than necessary. Overnight is OK but remove after the last coat is still tacky. There was some leakage of paint under the tape and this was minor. It was corrected with a little of the spray paint sprayed into a small container and brushed over the affected areas. Of more concern was the new tires rubbing against the repair. The repairs were filed down a little more but the main reasons for the rubbing was the new tires were maybe a little oversize and wear on the chassis allowing the wheel to ride higher into the bodywork. For a stationery display model this may be accepta
ble but for me I will have to made some kind of repair on the chassis.
