Dinky Armstrong Siddeley Type 6 38e

Made between 1946-53, this range had a plastic windscreen, most are broken but easily replaced if you doing a restoration. In any case the base will have to be removed. This model had a 25% paint loss and on stripping the paint there appears to be some underlying corrosion which will have to be removed with a wire brush. The strip down is basic but remove the windscreen, or what is left of it, and the steering wheel. Do not bend the steering wheel pin straight as you will need to ben it again. The pin can be removed if partially straight. I have to point out one of the hubs, the flashing extends out to the rim on both sides of one hub. I am not sure if to keep this as an example and replace it with a new one. In progress....

Nice to restore such a great model. Missing windscreen and steering wheel. I decided to change the color to the rarer Red with Burgundy interior. I would normally hand paint the interior but on this occasion I resprayed it. The steering wheel was 3d designed and printed and the windscreen made out of a juice bottle. Looks much better in this color scheme.
