Dinky Taxi 40h

Very poor state with broken window pillars and twisted roof. This can be seen clearly in the pictures, check the back view. The base was in surprisingly good order with good paint including the driver but slightly twisted. The twist was easy to fix by hand. The base was removed with 2 mm starter holes and the rivet tops removed with a larger bit. The top was immersed in aircraft paint stripper prior to repair. The body was eased back into shape by gentle twisting by hand, anything other than this may have made the matter worse. Watch out for making any further cracks in any other area. Metal based epoxy resin was used over a piece of wire (telephone cable) for strength and layered up until there was enough material to work with. This was filed down and a further layer was added to repair small flaws. A coat of primer revealed a couple of minor flaws which were repaired and 400 grit wet and dry rub smoothed down minor imperfections. This is in progress and will be updated soon.
